In 2014, Barbara embarked on a journey fueled by a deep connection to the land. She purchased a plot with the intention of becoming a “good steward,” nurturing its potential while respecting its natural rhythms. The following years would test her resolve in profound ways.
In 2016, a divine message came in the form of a hospitalization, a harrowing battle with MRSA that brought Barbara face-to-face with her own mortality. Even as her body weakened, a quiet certainty took root. A mammogram confirmed her fears – cancer. Yet, amidst the darkness, faith offered a flickering light. Through prayer and a newfound commitment to holistic healing, Barbara embraced an alternative path. Naturopathic medicine, acupuncture, and a deep connection to nature became her guiding principles.
A trip to Israel in 2017 marked a turning point. There, in the ancient city of Mandala, while at a church service, a simple mural of a finger touching a garment resonated with Barbara’s prayers for wholeness. The divine, it seemed, was reaching out. Back in the States, during a church service, a stranger’s touch confirmed what her heart already knew – the cancer was gone.
This profound healing ignited a passionate transformation. Barbara saw the land not just as a place of stewardship, but as a source of vibrant life. She became a beekeeper, tending to 18 hives, and welcomed goats, chickens, and roosters onto her growing haven. Each harvest, each jar of honey, became a testament to the land’s bounty and Barbara’s unwavering faith.
